Introduction
The Strategic Management Programme is a self contained strategic level programme accredited with a full MBA qualification. At the heart of its design is our philosophy that management training and development must deliver an immediate payback as well as a pay forward to both the participating manager and his or her sponsoring organisation.
The Strategic Management Programme/MBA is focused on helping managers to deliver transformation and change. The Programme's combination of traditional and open learning approaches is designed to meet the needs of time challenged strategic managers.
Four three-day residential modules are interspersed with directed study over the first six month period. Participating managers then have a further six months to complete a strategic management project/dissertation.
The Strategic Management Programme/MBA will enable managers to design and deliver change in an increasingly turbulent and global environment:
- critically applying strategic frameworks to the forward development of their organisation
- building the links between external competitive advantage and internal core competences
- strengthening personal competences in leadership, cultural transformation and performance management
Sponsoring organisations will gain by the development of:
- strategic managers committed to shaping the future of their organisation
- managers able to lead the management of change
- managers committed to continuing professional development
In addition, there are immediate measurable benefits from in-company assignments and a supervised strategic management project/dissertation.
Approach
As with all Awbery Management's programmes, the content of the Strategic Management Programme/MBA is practitioner focused. The four residential modules are based around cross-functional issues rather than discrete management subjects to reflect the 'un-bounded' environment in which strategic managers are operating.
Key issues discussed include:
- the new frontiers in strategic decision making and the implications for competitive advantage
- change as a strategy, implementing transition and transformation
- increasing globalisation and the consequences for strategic direction
- processes for strategic management decision making
The small group size allows customization of content to managers' specific interests and managers are encouraged to develop these interests through their own reading.
Dissertation supervision sessions are on a one-to-one basis and are arranged to fit with individual work schedules.
Eligibility
The Programme attracts experienced senior managers who are committed to their continuing professional development. Typically, managers will be sponsored by their employing organisation, however some independently funded managers attend the Programme.
Participating managers must hold a current Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies to be eligible for the Programme's MBA accreditation. Non-qualified managers may still attend and benefit from the Programme but will only gain a Certificate of Completion.
Accreditation
The programme is accredited with a full MBA .
